Can I use a computer science teacher for my recommendations? Some schools recognize the subject as a core class but I'm not sure if that is how all schools look at it. The common app does not mention it. Is that because it falls in under science?

It would be preferable if you didn't use a comp sci rec. Something more pure science(bio, chem, etc.) or pure math(stat, calc) related would be much better. Yes, you can use the comp sci rec, but I suggest you use it if its a really good rec.

Oh trust me; it;s an excellent rec. He considers me as one of his best students ever and not because im a computer geek because im not. It's just because i work hard and accomplish programs students havent done in years, and overall I impress him. That's why i want it on top of my other good recs. So you're saying there aren't any schools out there that would reject a comp sci rec, right???

I would say that's fine. Is your passion computers?

Well I am going to study engineering, biomedical engineering to be exact. In actuality, all my teachers would give me good recs, but I wanted my cs teacher to give me one since he almost adores me and i have been told he talks to his other classes about me. I just thought he would have an amazing rec even though i could get a good one from any of my teachers. CS is related to any engineering field right?
