Recommendations for dorm living

With less than a month to go before our s begins his fsu career, i was wondering if any of you with experience with dorm life can suggest any items to bring that are not included in the list below on the fsu housing web site.

it seems fairly comprehensive.

FSU Housing - What to Bring to FSU...

thanks

Other possible items:
You can get a small dorm safe to store valuables, Bissell featherweight vacuum, clothes iron & mini board if you think your son will actually use it, plastic drawers for under the bed, memory stick for computer backup, video game system, camera, cell charger for dorm & car, floor rug, in some dorms damp rid and ant/roach traps. (some of which you can buy at Target when you get there)

There is not that much room so you probably don't want to bring sporting equipment unless he is really into it like golf clubs for example.

I just found out it is very easy to order a Publix gift card online for grocery shopping and you can even specify no alcohol, tobacco or lottery tickets.

These are great tips cybermom!! Also, someone told me to bring power strips and extension cords for their gear.

thanks cybermom and ganolemom. i appreciate it!

Yes - you want to being a multi-outlet surge suppressor for the computer and printer, plus an extra long LAN cable and an extra long USB cable for the printer.

Plus - a security cable for the laptop (to lock the computer to the desk), spare ink for the printer, paper for the printer and the usual office supplies.

All these may be bought at the FSU Computer Store in the University Union, through local stores or brought from home.

Social Security Card
Birth Certificate
Insurance Card
