I appreciate all your insights. We lived in Southern California for 10 years and although my son is open to all regions, I know he misses Ca. He was fortunate enough to intern on an Independent film last year. Funny we move and happen to get that opportunity. He knows it’s a rough road upon graduation. I encourage him to follow his passions.

If it were my daughter, I’d say that from your list, these schools stick out to me and recommend she narrow down from here or look at these more closely:

Boston University- D’s friend goes there, and If I can call correctly, told me that they have a film/performing arts campus in LA that offers internships, credits, and some sort of certificate program to students.
New York University- Good performance arts program; Jamie Johnson studied there.
University of Southern California - Massive school spirit; I can feel it all the way over here (on the East coast). Also, Josh Schwartz went to film school there.
California State University: Sacramento- Definitely not recommended for film school.
UC Berkeley
UC Santa Barbara - Major party school.
Columbia College - Which one? The one in New York? Well, I don’t know anything about the other one, LOL, but I can tell you that D took a few summer courses with current college students at Columbia University, and I would say there are better options for film school.

Also check to see if any of these schools participate in Campus MovieFest.
