Recommendations for Housing

This can go for any college I guess such as to alleviate having so many threads.

I applied for housing in Marshall, and I was wondering what would be ideal to have the first year. Also, what are some of your experiences with triples vs singles.

Singles are better.

did anyone get their housing stuff in the mail yet?

nope

and is blake better than argo in revelle?

Dude, revelle's a faggot.

singles are the best

Yes, get a single.

which residence halls are best for muir? i know tenaya's getting refurbished this summer.

Tioga was just refurbished this past summer... But apparently Tioga kinda smells now because of it. I would still say that Tioga is nicer because it is taller and gives you a chance for a nice view...

I was wondering what some of the pros and cons for both were so I could get a better idea of what the dorm life would be with both.

Thanks

Singles:

You can wake up when you want.
You can sleep when you want.
You have privacy.
You have a whole room to yourself.
You have space.
You have a closet.
You don't risk having crazy roommates.
You can be as neat or messy as you like.
You can study in peace.
You don't have to worry about roommates or strangers stealing your stuff.

Triple:

A roommate might wake you up if you forget to set your alarm.
You don't have to pay $1 when you lock yourself out.

I heard that all of the doubles were being turned into triples. Does anyone know if thats true? Im in Muir btw.

yes its true unfortunately :( i asked one of the muir staffs on the admit day

singles:
-you do get a room all to yourself
-privacy
-quiet place to study (although i suppose going to the library is also an inexpensive option)
-don't have to worry about fights with your roomates
-better opportunities for sleeping

so basically what slorg said ^^

triples:
-saves you $1500, so if you are recieving quite a lot of financial aid or are working to pay for college, that's actually $1500 that you don't have to spend on fees so you can keep that money!
-can work out who brings what so you don't have to bring a tv, mini fridge, and a microwave all by yourself
-automatically well aquainted with two people once you enter UCSD
-forces you to get out there and get to know your roomates and their friends instead of falling into a trap of being anti-social in a single
-might like it or hate it but it's a natural part of college life

im still deciding.. having doubles would make things much easier though.

Have you guys already been receiving the housing stuff in the mail/email?

i havent recieved anything through mail, just the email that provided me with the link to sign up for housing.

Are each floor or residential hall separated by gender? or are they coed?

Floors and residential halls are coed, but suites are same gender.

Floors are coed- but bathrooms are same gender. Each floor has a kitchen and chill room? I'm kinda confused. I looked at the floor layouts on UCSD's housing website and they only show one set of bathroom

There are two suites per floor. Each suite is a single gender. Each suite shares one bathroom. Each suite has a common room. Each residential hall has a kitchen.
