We really love Baros. It’s one of the originals, easy speedboat ride from Male, with smooth transfers to and from the airport. Lovely people, great food, the most wonderful spa…overwater villas or beachfront. More laidback than glitzy.
For a cheaper option, Bandos is more no-frills but we haven’t been there in a very long time.

@cquin85 my recommendation for the Maldives is that you invite me! It’s a bucket list place for me to snorkel. I’m a very self sufficient person, I’m clean, a teetotaler and am a very good traveler. In addition my passport is up to date. Thank you for your consideration.

Note that alcohol is not allowed on the main island of Male and Hulhumale. So the hotels on those islands don’t serve alcohol. On the resort islands, they do allow alcohol.
There are varying levels of luxury on the resort islands. So I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. At some of the high end resorts, the villas can be over $30k USD per night.
Hard Rock and Sheraton are very close boat ride away from Male and very popular.
