Is it too much to ask if you want your teacher to write you a recommendation and you are apply to 10+ schools? Also, would it be better to choose teachers who know you (personality, work habits, etc) or to choose teachers related to your intended area of study?

How many of your schools are on the Common App? They just have to write one rec and it gets sent to all the colleges.

Most are, except for maybe two. So they just write the recommendation in a general way?

My kids applied to more than 10 schools. Teachers wrote general rec (just one) and they mailed it to each school. We provided envelopes, stamps and a typed list of schools/addresses for each teacher.

Older son had 2 teachers write recs, not in his field of intended study though he ended up changing majors and actually double majored in both fields!) and younger son had 2 teachers in his field (he is engineering and they were comp sci and physics) write his.

If you have a major that has some teachers that in same/similar area and they know you and your work well, then use them.
