I want to send Northwestern two teacher recommendations, but they only require one. If they receive two teacher recommendation forms and letters, will they know that I did that intentionally? Or should I just ask one of my teachers to write a supplemental letter? Help!

They require 1 but more than that (up to four, I believe) is fine. If you want to show them, for example, that not only are you an amazing physicist but that you also have great skill and practiced for years in juggling club, two recs are in order.

exactly. 2 recs are wonderful, and NU admissions people will not be confused. I did 2 teacher recs when I applied to NU too.

Is it bad that both of them will be from the math/science department rather than a balance between the humanities and math/science? I got a B in both English and history last year, but I think my math teacher (also my tennis coach) will write me a better rec. about me than my English or history teacher could. My physics teacher is known to write fantastic recommendations, so I asked him. Hmm! Thanks for the clarification!
