<p>At my school everyone asks at the end of junior year.</p>
<p>You should ask as soon as possible, but make sure you ask in person.</p>
<p>My D’s school told the student to ask teacher when school resumes after summer as teachers would be busy near the end of semester. My D asked several teachers in April anyway.</p>
<p>The advice my daughter got–which I now give-- was, “In the spring of your junior year, right after the seniors’ exams and graduation are over, and before teachers get too busy with finals and grades for underclassmen.”</p>
<p>Since it’s too late for that, I would suggest that you ask A.S.A.P.</p>
