I applied by UMD's priority deadline, but I am now concerned that I am not eligible because of recommendations. On the recommendation provider it says that my guidance counselor and one of my two teachers was notified, but that the recommendation is not complete. For one teacher it says completed and submitted. Does that mean that the other two did not do my recommendation? Please help. Thank you.

Based on my daughter’s application, I think “Notified” means not submitted. She has 1 teacher who we know submitted and it states, “Submitted on 9/28/2013” as well as the guidance counselor (“Submitted on 10/14/02013”). She has another teacher who we know did NOT submit (she initially agreed, then said she was too busy)- so hers still states, “Notified on (date)”. We didn’t call or do anything about that one because the application only ‘requires’ 1 teacher reference and the guidance counselor reference. They allow you to submit 2 teacher references but only 1 is actually required.

As far as your situation- you sound like you’re good with the teacher reference but doesn’t look like the guidance counselor ever came through. We had to bug the h— out of ours. I agree with md1960 and call admissions to make sure that’s not a problem with early decision. Looks like the regular decision deadline is Jan. 20 but would be a bummer to get bumped to that over a guidance counselor reference. Call first and see what you need to do, if anything.
