when would be a good time to ask for recs if you apply in the fall? A teacher from spring semester wont remember you next fall and the teachers you currently have in the fall dont know you as well. and also what if none of your teachers really know you at all, like if all your classes are in giant lecture halls with 50 plus people (im majoring in fincance at stern and all the classes are huge). could you get a rec from a proffesional source like a supervisor? or any other suggestions?

Tell me you knew you'd be applying to law school and somehow in three previous years of undergrad course work you have failed to make the office hours to cultivate at least TWO letters of recommendation??? Any your first choice law school is where? AWK.

note: I asked for my letters of rec summer prior to fall admission cycle. I had lunch with each recommender and provided them with all necessary information and guidelines.

Ask if one can anyway. All they would need is for you to give them your information. Just pretty much hand them a copy of your whole law school app (without the recommendations of course).

I swear I must have just been awarded entry into law school without applying because I have no recollection of doing any of these things. Were recommendations required 30 years ago?

Think back to spring semester - there must be a teacher who will remember you if you approach them. They really just need to remember that you did well in the class and the grade will tell them that. You may have to start with, "Since I really enjoyed your class and did well in it, I hoped that you would provide a recommendation for law school."

Always provide them with a short personal bio, your personal statement and your transcript. This enables them to be accurate, direct comment on your experience and is a common courtesy. One should also tell them what law schools you are making application to. One never knows what old classmates or social connections they have which the requestor would have no knowledge about.

When I walked into a info session for accepteds the Dean of Law told me to say hello to one of my recommend writers. It pays to be complete in informing your writer.
