recommendations

for recommendations how many teacher reccomendations do you use? and can you use a spanish teacher for one or does it need to be from an english math or science teacher?

Most schools ask for 2 recs, but some request 1 and a few don't require any, check the college website to be sure.

Recs should be from a teacher in a core academic subject, so Spanish is fine.

spanish is often not considered a core academic subject. many schools expressly state on their requirements that they want one from the math/sciences and one from eng/social studies, and some schools go as far as to say "no language or other electives". i would check the school's website, and contact your admissions officer when in doubt.

^^^ agreed. Best thing to do is to ask an admission's officer. I talked to one from my ED school and he was very clear about the kind of recommendations they like to see and what they don't want.

Aww, that's a shame.

I wish any subject that is required for the admission process was considered "good enough" for a teacher recommendation.

I totally agree that whatever the school specifies trumps all. However, be aware that the CA lists: "English, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Math, or Science" as the academic subjects for LORs.
