Recommendations

I was planning on getting a recommendation from my chemistry teacher. But he recently got a brain tumor so I'm not really sure if I could get one. I could get it from my calc teacher, except for that I'm kind of known as a slacker with good grades in that class.
Also my counselor is leaving this year, and I kind of know her well. Can I get a rec from her? Would the colleges accept it as the counselor rec? I personally don't think the new counselor would be a great person to get a rec from since I wouldn't know him or her very well.
Oh yeah one last thing. Is it better to get a rec from my APUSH teacher or journalism teacher. The latter would confirm my ECs.

Ask your current GC if she will write the rec - it will be in your folder for your new GC when the time comes.

I don't know what to say about the chemistry teacher - if he is back next year, you could ask.

My son did well with rec's that were from teachers who were also club advisors. I think the journalism teacher is the one to ask.

I think you'll need an actual teacher, as well as a GC rec.

If you think they're apathetic about your history, let them know how much the college means to you. Connect with them personally, and see if that helps. Remeber, they're helping you as "the person", not just one of a couple hundred students.
