Recommendations

MIT's website says that I need a recommendation from a math/science teacher and one from a humanities teacher.

Do I have to get one from a humanities teacher? Would one from technology or English be fine?

Yes, you must have one rec from a humanities teacher. English teacher is perfect. But I am not sure about technology teacher? How heavy/significant was the technology class? More than math and science class?

We just discuss how tech affects our world today.

Do you mean you use the rec. from the technology teacher to meet the humanities rec. requirement?

I’ve always interpreted “humanities” in this context to be a teacher who teaches a subject that, if it were taught at MIT, would belong in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, e.g. those on [this list](http://shass.mit.edu/fields).

So by my criterion, English would be fine, and so would technology (as long as it sounds like a similar class to one that would be taught in the Science, Technology, and Society department).

Does it have to be a high school teacher or can it be a college teacher too?
