I’m self-studying AP World History this year as a Junior. Just this past May, I took the APUSH exam and received a 5. However, I took the AP U.S. History class and had an amazing teacher.

My former APUSH teacher said he would provide me with the AP World History textbook of my choice, all he asked me to do was a bit of research. I have, and I’m leaning towards Stearns’ World Civilizations, AP Edition.

Any recommendations or comments on the Stearns text? I’ve also heard that Bentley, Zieglier (spelling?), and some other textbooks are also good.

I hear Stearns’ World Civilizations, AP Edition is a good book but I would suggest another.

I am taking AP World through my school, though I have already read through a good amount of the textbook already and find it is very useful for giving you what you need to know. The title is “Traditions & Encounters: A Global Perspective of the Past”

It is one of the easier textbooks I have read thus far and I believe it will help you in your studies. I strongly suggest you look into this book.

I use Traditions and Encounters in class. I enjoy a much more straight-forward version of any book, but you may like it. Traditions has a lot to digest, but if you do a chapter (maybe one and a half) a week, you should make it to the end by the AP test.
