So on the Stanford website it states that SAT subject test are recommended but not required. And even states that those who do not submit subject tests will not be at a disadvantage. I got a 34 on the ACT and would rather not have to worry as much about subject tests, so do you think it would be okay to not take them?

Yea, it is ok. But it would be better if you did.

And even states that those who do not submit subject tests will not be at a disadvantage.

I don't remember reading that anywhere on Stanford's website (I could be mistaken though). And Stanford doesn't say that subject tests are recommended but strongly recommended. ie-you better submit them.

err... basically anything that's recommended, you better hope you do.

also, how will you apply to harvard, yale, princeton, etc without them?

I am going to take them, but I got a 2070 on the SAT and I would prefer that colleges not see that. For Yale it is only the ACT and I was hoping Stanford was the same.

I think the only reason Stanford makes the SAT 2's recommended but not required is so that in case they get an application from someone they really would like to have (great athlete, etc) but for some reason that person couldn't take any subject tests, they don't have to automatically reject him for it.
