Are there any recommended classes that freshmen should take?

anyone?.....

look at the website of ur major's department or ur college's website if there is anything for ur major

for me, the college of chemistry publishes a chemistry booklet that has recommended classes for chem and chem eng (thats me :)) students

Off the top of my head:

Astro 10 - Professor Filippenko is arguably the most popular professor on campus due to his interesting lectures and subject material. It also satisfies a breadth for those L&S folks.

Freshman-Sophomore Seminars - Take these nice, low-unit classes for a small class environment with a world-class professor discussing something that interests both you and the professor.

decals - classes taught by students. small classes that are fun. they wanted to make a poker decal.. dunno if that went through.

Freshmen courses: Chem 1A/3A, Math 1A/1B/53/54, English R1A/B, History 7A/7B, Astro 10, Psych 2

Most of the new Discovery Courses look really retarded (i.e. excuses not to take a subject seriously) but there's one really neat one called Drugs and the Brain.

I'll also probably take a freshman seminar, so I can gain my voice in the traditional Haaser fashion, heehee...

Yet another annoyingly enthusiastic pundit arises!

L&S 70U: INTRODUCTION TO GENERAL ASTRONOMY
Professor Alex Filippenko

L&S 70V: PHYSICS FOR FUTURE PRESIDENTS
Professor Richard Muller

L&S C140T: MARX, NIETZSCHE AND FREUD
Professor Robert C. Holub

I think these sound serious, and the first two are supposed to be two of the best classes that i've heard about on campus. The third one sounds serious to me, but perhaps only because i love philosophy and i like psychology. Still, i think taking all DC's would be a great schedule . . . oh, wouldn't it be nice . . .
