Recommended colleges?

Hi, I’m a student at smith college. (Freshmen)
Currently I am looking for other colleges to transfer.
What I’m looking for is, somewhere

low tuition (Out-of-state)

City (Urban)

Co-ed

No requirements

What I mean by no requirements is, smith does not require any course for student to take beside writing intensive. (Which is cool!) I wonder if there are any other schools w/o requirements; or just a little.

I would love to know colleges in Bost on/New York.
Thank you for your help! I appreciate it!

P.S. If I want to transfer fall 06, by when should I complete my transcription?

U Mass is relatively cheap for out-of-staters. Brown is free-wheeling when it comes to requirements, but it is far from cheap.

I think it would help if you could tell us your state of residence, what kind of financial aid you are currently receiving, and what in particular you dislike about your current situation.

I'm an international student, unfortunately. I'm not receiving any financial aid now. :( (It's bit difficult for international student to receive financial aid..I think.) Smith is way too expensive for me since I'm not getting any financial aid.

The thing I dislike about current situation would be

financial (tuition is just way too high lol)

I am from city (urban) so I think I would be better off at urban.

I don't think what I'm getting here is worth 45,000 dollars per year.

The reason I prefer no requirement- is so that I can accelerate. Also I'm doing pre-med so I don't want to have too many requirement since I have to worry about both pre-med and my major already.

thank you for your comment;)

ok this is a start. what is your major? what is your current gpa? Did you orignally look at combined BA/MD programs. What made you choose Smith originally.

I'm trying to major in psychology and I'm also doing pre-med requirement. My current gpa, I really have no idea but it shouldn't be less than 3.5 (I think)
I did not look at BA/MD. The reason I chose smith was b/c of its reputation.

im in the same boat as skyj..
NYU is wayyyy too expensive and i do not think spending 160k+ for it is worth it

IS there a certain level of college which you think would be worth the price of a private?

Not Boston or New York, but you could check out New College of Florida. It's a public LAC in Sarasoto, FL. No requirements, and it's ranked second among public institutions for where it sends its graduates (after University of Michigan).

not really..my parents care about reputation a lot. (ranking and stuff...you know..as all asian parents do I guess)
I think pomona is really good one. Though they have requirement and not in city though.
for price, Range of 20000~35000 would be fair enough. (Including room and board..and all.)

amm..are you also smithie?? or...?
NYU is really really expensive. I'm not even thinking about applying there. lol
(by the way whats 160k??)

Well you know all those private schools are around 40K ($40,000 a year), right? I'm still a little confused about what you want. Is Smith's reputation not good enough for your parents?

Oh, I am not trying to apply only privates. I don't really mind applying public as well. And yes, smith's reputation is good but I'm not really happy being here nor my family can afford it. It's just way too expensive. So basically I'm looking for somewhere cheeper, and still have decent reputation. (as i said I don't care if it's state/private) I'm trying to apply for fall 06 so I can't apply UCs since I'm freshman. The reason I would like to go for city is I think i would be better off there.

Univ of North Carolina/Chapel Hill
Univ of Texas/Austin

Both of these have relatively low out-of-state tuitions and both have stellar reputations. I doubt you'll have fewer non-pre-med requirements, however.

If I were you, I'd look into the accelerated programs such as those listed below, then find out which ones will accept International Students and will transfer your Smith credits where possible.
