Honestly, I have no idea. I used to be the same way; hated Macs and everything about them. I slowly grew out of the nonexistent reasons for hating them, and just bought a 15’’ Macbook Pro. It’s great, and is powerful enough to run anything I throw at it. Plus, it’s actually (gasp) well designed and isn’t a monstrosity that a comparably powerful PC laptop would be.

And it’s not that college people are anti-mac; rather that computer nerds, and nerds in general, are anti-mac, and computer nerds inhabit internet forums everywhere.

I have a mac.
I am not anti-PC, its just a different feel and a different way of organizing things. And it depends on if you can afford it or not. My school had a discount and my parents paid so…lol.

I think that people who are really into computers prefer PC because its easier to customize things and obviously, the wealth of programming you can do/programs you can use without having to buy a special program to run a different operating system. PCs are def better for intense gaming and computer geek stuff, imo.

I think getting it because it looks ‘sexy’ is stupid though.

And not all college people are anti-mac. A lot of kids at my school have macs but of course PCs are the majority because they are more affordable. Seriously stop listening to biased college kids, go read some real reviews by real computer people and decide on your own.

i have a lenovo thinkpad and agree with what the previous user said about it. Not many people where i go to school have thinkpads, they mostly have hp for a mac

I personally wouldn’t recommend a Mac unless you’re doing something artsy or otherwise program heavy. They’re not really that much better, and cost twice as much for the same specs.

Macs also have way less hassle/problems with them. They start up quickly and run smoothly. The only advantage PCs have over Macs are price and power, both of which are due to the larger market, and consequently larger amount of parts, for PCs.

If you want reviews on laptops, just use cnet.

These are two huge advantages. Also, Windows has come a long way since Win95. Vista and Windows 7 are solid operating systems. A Windows laptop doesn’t give you much hassle nowadays.

I recently installed Windows XP on my Mac. Ironically within the first day of using it, I had to close unresponsive programs twice and restart once.

Operating systems aside (of which OSX is probably better, but can do less), the hardware of a Mac is vastly superior. Sure, you can get a comparably powerful Dell for a lot less. But it’ll weigh 10 lbs and be 3 inches thick. Macs are thin and light; my 15.4’ seems a lot smaller than it actually its.
