In my common app, there are some colleges that I haven’t set a teacher recommender for. So I went under Recommenders and FERPA, and there isn’t an option to assign teacher recommenders. What do I do???!?! Someone please tell me what’s wrong!!
Have you already applied with recommendations before? I mean have your teachers already uploaded/submitted their recommendations for you? If so then there should be a thing to add teachers and a drop down box to set them.
Yes I already applied to other schools with recommenders before. I use a system called naviance, which allows teachers to submit their recommendations to all the schools I listed that I’m applying to. But I added some schools over winter break, which means that my teachers have not added their recs yet. I think for most schools I can submit my recs slightly after the deadline. But I first need to assign them under Recommenders and FERPA, which I can’t do. Can you please elaborate on what you mean by the drop down box?
If you go to the Recommenders and FERPA page for any college, there is a link at the top right (to the right above where it says FERPA release authorization) that says Manage Recommenders. It’s in blue. Click on it and you can add recommenders using the page that pops up. Have you done that? Once you’ve done that, you can assign the recommender on each colleges Recommenders and FERPA page.
Yeah I’ve tried that, but it only lets me add “other recommenders”—not teachers themselves. Under teachers, it said that my school uses naviance, and that I have to email my counselor, which I can’t really do atm. I’m really worried because my colleges allow me to submit it later, but I don’t know if they will if I haven’t even assigned recommendations yet.
Why can’t you email your counselor?
Because it’s winter break and my teachers don’t check their emails during winter break.
