Does the common app track the IP address of the computer from which the evaluations and transcripts are submitted? My GC isn't very tech savvy so I'll be taking my laptop to her because she needs to be shown every step. I'll be submitting the application on the same computer. Will that be a problem? I read on the Common App website that they sometimes check the IP, timestamps, etc. HELP!!!

I highly doubt they’re going to investigate the submission that deeply. However, the fact that you counselor doesn’t know how to submit her reports is suspicious and a problem in itself. Is every student that needs their GC report going to just bring their personal computers in and guide her through the process? I would suggest you talk to someone in your school’s administration because that’s literally part of her job and if she can’t do it, when it’s necessary for MANY students, there’s a huge issue to be resolved.

Yes, they do track IP address. My kid had an issue in uploading a doc and in researching how to fix they said to report time, date and IP address. To be on the safe side, maybe you should just use a school computer in the library or borrow another laptop.

Actually no it’s not necessary for many students…I’m an international student and I’m the only one who’s applying to a foreign university from my school. So it’s definitely not their issue. I’m lucky my teacher even agreed to give me a recommendation.
