Reconsidering prescreens?

Does this ever happen? My S did not get offered an audition at a school he applied to. It was no biggie and not unexpected and he moved on. Then a month later his teacher gets a request for a letter of recommendation.

I assume it’s a glitch or a robo email they send to anyone who applied but it’s kinda weird right? I assume if you don’t get an audition then you’re done. Do these music schools ever change their mind and realize they didn’t give enough people for a certain instrument an audition? Since this is my first music kid I’m not sure how final those decisions are? Anyone else have this happen?

You guys are so helpful. I’d be a wreck without this blog. Thanks for viewing.

That sounds odd–I suggest your son (or you) call the school and double-check. Possibly he did pass the prescreen but the system generated the wrong level. More likely, the request for the rec letter was an error, but he deserves an answer.

Was there a prescreen? I’m sure all kinds of mistakes are made - I think I’d call just to make sure.

Which school was it if you wouldn’t mind sharing? Saw numerous systems issues at NEC this year so wondering if this is one of theirs as well.
