I'm assuming you are applying to W&M do you know if they offer interviews?

I almost applied there but the high frat/sorority percentage scared me away.

No they do not grant interviews. And for what it's worth, you just have to be smart if your out-of-state. Don't be foooled by their amazing stats, they are all out of state kids, in-state you can get in with a 1250 and 3.5, and much, much lower if URM.

The avg. SAT for in-state students is usually around 1300-1310 depending on the year. Bump that up 100 points for OOS. The Median is 1350. 85% of ALL admitted students are top 10%, so, 3.5 simply won't cut it.

Tribegirl09, please don't spread any false information on this board please. William and Mary DOES grant OPTIONAL interviews in the summer by current seniors and believe it or not, it plays a role in the process.

I know 1250 and 3.5 still cuts it at Richmond (if your Daddy can pay) but unless you are a URM from Southwestern VA or a Football player (all of which have to meet 1100 or greater), in most cases, you won't stand much of a chance.

HTH

tribegirl... that's completely wrong. Admission to W+M instate is extremely competitive. (as is UVA) Can you get into W+M with a 3.5/1250? I'd imagine so, but the driving force behind your admission will be another part of your app, since both of those numbers are significantly below the average.

The average admitted GPA is 4.0... so please explain how a 3.5/1250 is an automatic acceptance. Maybe you were trying to take a shot at the subpar students we let in to make our football team good? O wait, the football team graduated 100% of its student athletes in the latest NCAA data. Guess that argument doesn't fly either.

From what I've heard, the interviews (yes, they are offered) are more for the HS kids to get a feel for the college than the other way around.

cantstandmenow

that's too bad... the greek percentage at W+M is only a couple % points higher than the national average. I have many greek and non greek friends.

I agree with soccer guy W&M is very selective in admissions.

it seems like many schools have record, or ner record apps for '09. I wonder why.
