Go Quakers !
RD rate is about 6.8% (3699-1354)/(40413-6075)=6.829% RD yield is about 48%.
@f2000sa we don’t know the actual RD yield rate yet. We will know that when the RD admits make their decisions. This year the overall target yield rate is 66% but the actual yield rate might end up being higher, like last year ( 68%).
If I had to bet I would say Penn may have slightly overadmitted, like it did last year.
So is thr a chance for waitlisted students. From the above discussions seems chance is nil.
@lurkermom any idea whts thr class size
Target class size 2445. If the acceptance is higher than expected, they will increase it a little bit, if lower, they will draw from WL.
The actual class size is 2,491 for 2020. Over-enrolled.
Accepted 3699 students… yield 60%. Expected enrollment is 2219 then…class size is 2445
So if yield does not increase they will definitely take from waitlist…
the yield is 68%-69% last year
http://www.thedp.com/article/2016/05/penn-yield-rate-record
They will get the desired number with a yield of 66% this year. It was 66% for two years before last year.
Last yr yeild was crazy…
@USUG21 fi the yield rate remains in the 66-69% ballpark like it has in the past few years, or it increased even more, they won’t need to use the waitlist.
Chances are the waitlist won’t be used too much, if at all, since they see to have over-admitted slightly.
This year it seems they hav not over admitted
@USUG21they probably have. Last year they admitted fewer people than this year and still over-admitted. So chances are they have over-admitted again this year, at least slightly. It all of course depends on the yield.
But if i had to bet, I would say that they will not use the waitlist at all this year or if they do it will be extremely limited.
I second that. They estimated the yield conservatively at 66%. The actual yield will mostly likely be at last year’s level…
There may still be some hope for those on WL. Penn admits by school. Some school may be over, and some under. They did admit a couple from WL for Wharton last year.
Any idea how much they enrolled from engg from WL
There is one wild card this year. How many international students will enroll. There have been lots of articles that international applications were down around the country this year. Don’t know about Penn. But either way, the Trump administration has created concern for these students. Will Visa’s be a problem? Will Muslim students be turned off to coming here. I am not getting into the politics, but I do think some students will be giving more thought to coming this year. If that happens, then WL might be used more. Who knows?
But upenn has taken more percentage of international this year…
@BigPapiofthree this is definitely a legitimate point, but i personally think the top schools will not be really affected. i guess we will see soon enough.
