Besides last year (a big mistake, with too many students ending up being in '12), Brown admits roughly 2600 students a year. Around 550 of these are from ED. Doing the math…

(2600-550)/25000= 8.2% In reality, it could be a bit higher or lower for a number of reasons…I’d assume they would be cautious with overdoing it again, but also they probably know a lot of people won’t have the money with the economy. idk…8.2% give or take.

It sucks because people who got deferred ED (such as me) have even LESS of a chance! Oh well. I am excited to go to Georgia Tech anyway. Good luck everyone!!!

Even though I’m fully aware that my chances of being admitted are close to nil, I know I’m going to be extremely disappointed with the news, anyway.

As if that wasn’t enough, I recently discovered a typo in one of my short answers that will be sure to seal my fate-- I wrote “Van Winkle” instead of “Van Wickle”. DOH! Not to mention the fact that I never had an alumni interview-- she sent me an e-mail towards the end of February apologizing for the fact that she missed the interview deadline (she had been away on vacation and didn’t check her e-mail until she got back). I guess the stars just weren’t aligning for me as far as Brown goes. Hopefully you guys had better luck than I did!

I know that many admits to Brown were ED, but here is the final number of admits:

“Brown University now says it admitted 2,708 of the 24,988 applications it received for next year’s freshman class, which translates to an admission rate of about 11 percent, down from 13.4 percent last year.”
