Recorded Accompaniment

I'm auditioning for two schools at Unifieds and I have a question about the recorded accompaniment. Does it have to be only piano? I have instrumental backing tracks for my songs but I'm not sure if I can use them because they're not just piano accompaniment. I can get the piano accompaniment but just want to make sure that I'm not breaking any rules or anything with either. Thanks!!

Another question about this. We are not sure if we should bring my son’d music on CD with a CD player or on his IPOD with a speaker system. Does anyone have an opinion on which would be better or easiest to use?

I would stick with piano only for accompaniment. It may not be a requirement but I would think a simpler piano only track would make it easier for the panel to focus on your voice.

My D brought 2 CDs and her iPod w/ speakers. She brought a CD because there were some schools that she would hand the music to and they would play it. For those schools it was easier to give them a CD and tell them what track to play. She had an extra CD in case the first got scratched or something. When schools did not have audio equipment she used her iPod. We bought a small speaker system (about a 4-inch diameter single speaker that had plenty of sound) that fit into her bag easily.

Maybe it was overkill, but D went into each audition without worrying about music failure.
