How hard is it to get into this program? LMU in LA. I recently just found out they offer Recording Arts major and was shocked. My passion in life is producing music, working in a recording studio, mixing tracks, sound design, music theory... etc.

However I heard they only take in 15 students a year. Is that because there is not many people applying or there is a low acceptance rate? My gpa is in the 3.0-3.1 range and I can possibly get it up to 3.2. It is that low because I was distracted from school focusing on my music, pursuing majors I didnt care about such as economics and psychology, and thus not doing well in the classes. I have also went through some hardships like clinical depression and a very sick father. Now that I know that one of my favorite schools offers my dream major, I only wish I knew this when starting community college so I would've focused on it.

In my application, I would supplement with a portfolio of my work and many reasons as to why I want this major and why my gpa is low. I could even show them pictures of my home studio, and perhaps even audition. There is literally no academic opportunity I would take in the world over a Recording Arts BA at LMU. I really would like to be one of those 15 students.

By the way, I am a california resident, attending a CCC. I also plan on taking some ECs.

I also have 3 course certificates from SAE Online receiving A's in all. Audio Mastering 101, Mixdown Techniques 101, and Sound Synthesis 101.
