I am allowed to record lectures in class, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what would be the best way to do this as unobtrusively as possible. I usually take notes with my laptop but for some classes like math (which is my most challenging subject) it is hard to have a notebook to take notes on and a laptop on my desk at the same time. I have looked at the livescribe pen, but that is out of my price range. Any suggestions?

My son has an Olympus digital voice recorder that’s about 3" x 1" that has a usb pc link that transfers direct to his laptop. The recordings are great, really clear. I hear they’re also now making recorders that can convert the recording to text.

i heard that there is a thing that you can attach or stick in the headphone jack of an ipod and it records and then you can load it into your computer and listen to it on your ipod later. you could look into something like that. people probably wouldn’t notice it because a lot of people have ipods. if you don’t have an ipod that wouldn’t work but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Do you happen to have an iphone? they have a great recording application (Happytalk Professional Recorder 2.5) that costs $5.00 and works great. They also have a free recording app with the new iphone software upgrade but I have not tried that yet. Digital recorders are very cheap so if you cannot use your phone, try one of those.
