Recording Studio

Does anyone know of any decent recording studios in Los Angeles/Orange County area?

You must be joking. There are literally hundreds of good studios in the area. Try this link:

Yeah, I know. It's just that they cost like 300 dollars/hr.

I have used MD recorder and a good mic (from D's piano teacher) to produce D's nfaa audition CD. D's piano teacher said that it sounded very good. I think MD recorder is very popular among music majors. It might not be up to the standard of sound professionals but does have pretty good results. Even the sound engineer of one of the big 5 orchestras gave one to his music-major daughter as a Christmas gift. With the quick advancement of new technologies (and getting cheaper), even the mic that comes with MD recorder is acceptable. I know that D will bring my MD recorder to college for sure. It is wise to invest a couple of hundred dollars to get one. It will get used often. I know for sure that some college music professors request the students record their private lessons. Plus you will be auditioning for summer music camps/festivals. MD recorder will come in handy and save you time and money.
