Recovering From First Semester

I'm currently a freshman at ND and will probably end up with a GPA in the vicinity of a 2.5, possibly lower in my first semester. I will admit my study habits were lax and I didn't give myself a fair chance as a result.

What I was wondering is, is it still realistic to get a good enough GPA to attend grad school? Any advice on how to improve next semester or stories of similar struggles?

Yes you can still improve your GPA. Advice? Hmm… maybe tighten up your self-admittedly lax study habits ;)

You wouldn’t be the first grad school applicant who had a poor first semester followed by great semesters.

I’m in the same boat. It happens. Read some books of how to study over break and throw yourself into your school work during second semester.

Thanks for the responses it helps to have perspective from others for sure.

That’s where Gen Eds come into place. Make sure to get the low down on what the easiest Gen Eds and professors are and then ace them.

Get your books early on and start your reading during the winter break. Go into the new semester with a new work ethic.

I am in the same boat…and the same school…
Let’s go man!!!

My thoughts exactly I did that with my calc book before this semester and it was definitely beneficial.

Let’s go Irish! Haha
