Recovery stories

Anyone have any happy-ending stories where one started off with a crappy GPA first sem/freshman year but ended up in the 3.7-4.0 range at the end of the year?

i need some inspiration.

Yes cum. gpa, by graduation.

3.3ish first three semesters, 4.0 next two semesters, 3.8 next two (estimating for this semester based on my current grades), one more to go…will end up around 3.6-3.7

I basically changed every single study habit I had. Stopped all of my procrastinating (I was king at it), etc. Although I took the most challenging courses from the beginning, and did a triple major (CS/Math/Econ).

marcdvl how did you beat procrastination its killing me right now

I realized it was killing my grade and somehow managed to overcome. It wasn’t easy the first semester; I had always (since elementary school) started my homework the day before it was due. I then changed to starting it the day it was assigned in my fourht semester, and I think that was the major factor of bringing my GPA up. I had more time to understand the assignments, and in turn did better on all assignments/labs, and the better understanding made me do better on the exams.

Again, I know it’s hard to do at first, but after a semester and seeing it pay off it becomes natural. For weekly homework in something like math, try to do at least a quarter the first day it’s assigned. For longer homeworks/labs/papers, start to think of what you want to do…come up with an outline…and make sure you’ve made some progress through the first week.

My sister. She had a hard time acclimating to college during her first two years because of depression due to massive family issues. She had like a 2.9, but she snapped out of it and realized that she wanted to go to grad school so bad, so she worked her but off and got 4.0 for her junior and senior years. She’s a super senior, but she is going to get another 4.0 gpa. I’m so proud of her! Her accumulative is a 3.76 and she will be graduating with a distinction (cum laude).

thanks for the advice man because i tell you its killing me
