Recquired Courses?

I'm trying to plan my fall schedule for my freshman year at UCF and I have a question. In the course catalog, under my major it says for the General Education stuff, that US History is preferred. Now, since it's preferred am I able to take another history-like class instead of it and have it still count for the General Education thing? I was looking through the search engine on My UCF and I like the sound of World Civilizations. Would I be able to take that instead?

Also, how do they take AP Credits into account? My orientation, where I'll be registering for classes, is June 9th-10th, and AP scores don't come out until July. I'm in AP Calculus, so (assuming I do well on the math placement exam), how will they know which Calc class to put me in? I don't want to end up closed out of one because they assumed I would pass or I would fail. Do they get the scores early? How does it work?

depends on what scores you got on the AP tests but they do accept them. you can also take any class in the history which is under B1. I believe it’s around page 49 of the course catalog on ucf but you have to take a class from each area. that’s the requirements for your GE

Yes, I know they accept AP credit for certain scores, I’m just wondering how they know what to put me in before the scores are officially announced. I’ll be signing up for courses in June, but AP scores aren’t released until July.
