recreation center/gym

I haven't taken a tour of USC yet (I've only been to the admissions building) and was wondering if anyone could tell me if there's a gym or recreation center on campus or near campus and whether or not it is open to students.

yup, Lyons Center is the on-campus recreation center. All students have free access with a USCard.

It is quite nice in fact and more importantly there is good food in the building right next door.

therevenge-when you take a tour, you'll find Lyons toward the northwest end of campus. I believe it is right by the McClintock street entrance onto campus off of Jefferson. Lyons is directly north of the swim stadium/complex and Dedeaux Field, the baseball stadium. It is quite nice and there are dorms right next to it.

actually the lyon center is pretty average or above average at best. you want to see nice? head over to uci and visit their gym the "Arc". but then again their gym is brand new and is probably the cream of the crop.

I don't really care if it's really nice or not...I just want to know if it has a decent weight room, track, and basketball court.

it has a decent weight room, about 5 full courts (often occupied by clubs), and you can always go to the track if you need a track.

Yeah, UCLA has a brand new, pimp (by comparison with ours) gym too.

Of course you know, building new gyms while simultaneously raising tuition and making students print out their own syllabi to save on paper costs... makes fiscal sense, doesn't it?

And Bruins wonder why their alumni not only don't give to UCLA, but give to USC.
