Recreation/Sports

Does Cornell have a shooting range?

I don't think an Ivy League school would be the best place to teach people how to shoot...

That is an ignorant comment, pistol/rifle are high school sports in which i particpate. thats like saying swimming isn't a sport that should be taught because people can drown.

i dont know if cornell in particular has one, but i'd be quite surprised if there wern't any in ithaca.

I'm just saying people can become a little "unstable" in college. That's all.

Check out this semester's PE classes. You can take riflery or a handgun class and receive credit for it.

Damn; I didn't know Cornell offered so much. PE might actually be fun at Cornell...

PE at Cornell isn't like PE in high school.

I used to shoot a fair bit myself, so I decided to look that up. Apparently, for the PE rifle/pistol classes, they take you down to the Tompkins County Rifle Club range. I don't know how far that is though...

Oh yeah, and the rifle course description said that they teach .22 cal 3 position.

its probably: prone, kneeling, and offhand. what did you shoot heythatslife?

I just saw that Cornell offers bootcamp for PE. Who is going to choose that?

I took up target rifle when I was in England and joined the varsity rifle team at my old school. I shot .22 and .308 mostly, but only prone, though. I had to drop it upon coming back to Korea, because they don't allow civilians to own guns.

the "ithaca gun company" used to exist here. you can still see the factory smoke stacks from the right places. there is a shooting range, but not on campus I don't think. You CAN have your own gun on campus, but it has to stay in a special place when you're not using it. and yeah, we have PE classes in shooting
