recruit/admissions/NU

anyone with expericience in recruiting for Northwestern? went to camp, head coach talked me and my parents, now waiting....nervous about academics being ok. any experience in that?

Which sport? Is your pre-read in process?

baseball and i have sent in my transcripts thru spring of 13. starting my sr yr.

Technically Northwestern is only required to adhere to the NCAA clearinghouse benchmarks which are very low. That being said admissions may hold the coach to higher GPA and test score standards and these may vary for different sports within the same school. The coach should have completed an academic pre-read by this point. I would call and ask him about how your grades compare to other athletes he is recruiting and where you stand in his recruitment list.

Northwestern admissions do have pre-reads and relative high standards for their student athletes. S went through their pre-read in July and received the OV invite in August. You need to ask the coach about pre-read if it’s not been done already. They will need more than your transcript. Test scores, senior class schedule, and NCAA ID should be sent as well.

Thanks so much for the info. I am late to the game. i have done most of these. we just started school last week so i need to send up my schedule. is there anyway you can me a range for sat/act, gpa, and sample sched for sr yr. i went to a camp for them and all of this is happening last minute. I would really like to go there. @5amriser may I ask if OV is official visit?

Yes. OV is official visit. You should ask the coach directly what range of GPA, test scores, and schedule he/she is looking for in a recruit. Expectations might be different by sports. PM me if you have specific questions.

thanks for all the information

Youngest was recruited by NU until she had a career ending injury. They offered her.

3.7 unweighted, 2200 SAT.

Good luck to you. They offered her her Jr year.

I don’t know how it works with baseball. She had most of her offers by the end of jr year.
