recruited athlete!!!

How much do colleges ease up if you're a recruited athlete? I'm talking like HPYS and other top schools. If you have the standard ivy applicant background (valedictorian, 2200+ SAT, +700 SAT II's, lots of AP's, community service etc), are you basically in if you're a recruited athlete? Or, is it still like, only a 30-40% chance?

as a recruited athlete and with stats like that, I'd say it's pretty much a guarantee because you have the possiblity of getting in on your own merits - something most recruited athletes can't say.

If you're on the coaches list and remotely close to the schools GPA and ACT range you'll be fine.

Check out some of the prior threads on recruiting and likely letters. It is important to know exactly where you stand with the coach and how much support he is giving you with admissions. The coach's pull varies by sport and by school. Initial calls or letters from a coach might not mean very much. If the coach tells you that you are at the top of his list and that he will use a "tip" on you, then you can be more confident.

The best plan for an average person to get into a top 10 school? Athletics... with average ability and above average determination, with the usual CCer scores HYPS isn't out of reach for really anyone...

Everyone should get off this website and start throwing some footballs, shooting some hoops, or running... this is what's going to get you into the college of your choice :P

I'm not against athletics, I was actually a varsity athlete for alot of my high school career. I really am just an idealist when it comes to college admission.

sweet.....because a senior that graduated from my HS last year said that he would have gone to harvard to run track/XC, but he didn't make the cutoff SAT of 1200....i was like !!!!!! and i think i'm as good as he was so....that's pretty cool
