Recruiting at NYU - Stern

not sure if any of you guys can answer my questions.. but I do not know of any other forums that can provide me with the necessary info.. the forum at www.thevault.com makes you pay.. =T

2 questions:

alright so, I was just accepted to Stern as a transfer.. waiting to hear from Wharton.

4.0.. lot's of job experiences.. national recognition in competitions.. research experience in finance/economics.. you can check out my credentials/whatever.

just wondering how aggressively, i.e. the number of job placements in summer ib programs. do stern students get into..

i wanted to get into m&a for one summer and then leveraged finance the summer after that and then jump straight into private equity after graduation... so either Goldman, Citigroup, Deustche Bank would be perfect

i know that private equity generally do not hire undergrads.. but I'm wondering if anyone knows if that is the same case with stern.

Blackstone's PE division hires out of undergrad, but to my understanding, they will only hire 2-3 people for the group each year (almost exclusively from Harvard and Wharton).

It's nice that you know what you want to do already, but keep in mind that doing M&A the summer after your sophomore year is ALMOST impossible, especially at a bulge bracket. Lev Fin isn't too easy to get into either. For most banks, after you receive your offer you will have a "sell-day," where you go in and interview with all the different groups. You pick your top 3 or so groups, and then they will place you.

Anyways, no matter where you go, you have to excel and standout above the rest if you want to work at GS, MS, etc. I would choose Wharton if you can get in, but keep in mind that you will need to maintain a high GPA there (in addition to ECs and what have you).
