I will be majoring in Computer Engineering and Managerial Economics at UC Davis. What is the recruiting like there? Since it’s fairly close to Silicon Valley, does that mean that big companies like Google and Apple come to recruit from Davis? Also, do banks from San Francisco recruit at Davis as well? I’m sure there is much more recruiting at Stanford and Berkeley, but wouldn’t Davis come third because it is the next best school near the bay?
Dig around through the Internship and Career Center’s website, you should be able to find a list of companies who attended career fairs in the past on campus. Davis also has an Engineering and Physical sciences career fair every winter quarter where companies come looking specifically for engineers.
In terms of Google/Apple, its a hit or miss. I have seen them at career fairs but the line to talk to their reps is so long that its almost not worth it. Workday, Intel, and Cisco recruit pretty regularly from Davis. I am not sure about the banks since I was a computer engineering major.
There do also tend to be a lot of state agencies given the proximity to Sacramento.
