Hi
Is recruiting possible for international students? Can someone tell me how it works at MIT? Suppose the coach wants the athelete and tells adcom (i know MIT doesn't "lower the bar", as someone on the adcom said), what will happen after that? Basically, how will the adcom consider it?

They will go, "Oh, this person has one more thing to contribute to MIT, and s/he displays some balance in his life. But can he still contribute what we need him to contribute? Is he a good match intellectually for the school? Will he fit in here? What will he do with what he learns here?"

oh...And since they said about 70% of the applicants are already intellectually qualified, recruitment could make a lot of difference (that is, if my app shows that i'm qualified) Am I correct?

Bythe way, can someone tell me if athletic recruitment for international students is possible?

We would all be guessing. At MIT, like most DIII schools, recruiting is usually kicked off by the applicant. Contact the coach and express you interest in MIT and the team ... if it's a good match things will go from there. (Check the MIT web-site there probably is a form for prospective athletes to fill out to contact the coach.)

oh alright...thanks...i think ben should know...
I know they have a form. Couldn't fill it yet cuz i'm waiting for my SAT2 scores. I was just curious about the process that's all.
