Recruiting Question

How is UMD with recruiting undergrad Business majors like Marketing? Are most of the recruiters in the North East area or do you see people from the Mid-west and West coast also?

According to their site it says that 77% work in the mid-atlantic. I really hope recruiters come from the NY/NJ area because that's where I live now and want to work there. Otherwise, I'll have to go and do some stuff on my own.

I wish they recruited from the west coast but i doubt that a west coast company is going to come to UMD. Does anyone think otherwise?

I went up to the recruiting office at the smith school when i visited a couple weeks ago. I looked around the smith building and it was great. I went into a computer lab where I struck up a conversation with a student there. he said that we should go check out the career center that was on the forth floor. We went up there and walked in. Right when we did it seemed as if they knew(or we made a lot of noice-which i don't think we did) and someone came out from an office behind around the corner. She asked us if she could help us and we said that we were seniors and we just got into smith. She was welcoming and told us to walk around. Someone was giving an interview right then but the interview rooms were small rooms each with a table, three chairs, and a computer. It was really nice.

I know this doesn't mean much but that is all i know.

Two things to keep in mind:
1. Most companies have an office in the DC area. So just because a recruiter is coming from DC doesn't mean that you will be placed in DC. For example, my friend Christina just graduated this past winter, and she went out to Los Angeles for a weekend to interview for a job. Her preliminary interview was with one of their partners in DC.

You really should look for jobs on your own anyway. Be motivated; don't rely solely on the companies that come to campus! If you want a job in New York, look for a firm in New York. Even if you want a job in DC, it's very impressive to actually make contact with the company on your own instead of just signing your name on a list when they come to campus.

Thats very true, thanks for your help
