Any parents out there??? What kind of information about the college search / recruiting / and selection process would you like to have at the tip of your fingers to help your son or daughter navigate through the recruiting process. I’d love to hear what information is most pertinent to attacking the recruiting process.
Are there specific topics? like Recruiting Rules, Differences between levels of play, academic eligibility, communicating with college coaches, gaining exposure, social media, etc
I was told this is a good site but it does not seem to be active for a while. Info is still valid. http://www.tier1athletics.org/blug/
I second tier1athletics. I have probably learned more here than anywhere. When I was getting started, I probably read through most of the post from the last 2-3 years. Even ones that specify a sport that is not your sport will have good general information. If you do that, you also noticed that I asked a ton of questions.
If there are specific parts of the process you have questions about comma you’ll probably get better answers. Also quite a bit is similar among all sports, but there are some sports that have different quirks And a different process.
It also makes a big difference what level you are looking to play at. The responses on here tend to be geared towards ivy league and D3.
But there are plenty of people who have experience with division 2 and with high-level D1 if that’s where the interest and abilities are.
One piece of advice I have is try to get some objective advice from someone you trust at what level you should be playing. That’s a pretty difficult thing for a kid or parent to figure out. Hopefully you can find a club coach, or some peers that have moved on the college to get a feel for that.
Sorry for the typos, but I’m doing this on the phone and it’s too much work to clean it up. Hopefully my point comes across.
