Recruiting Video Questions

Top 25 D3 programs for Class 2021 kid. Yes, coaches are saying lots of roster spots will be filled in the winter.

@Mwfan1921 - I emailed a local D3 coach I’m close with. He responded “schools that had a November 1st deadline will probably extend until January 1st. This is going to allow for most schools to take a look at players from November-December 2020, when normally they would need to have their 2021 class mostly complete.”

This jives with many of the conversations my son is having with coaches.

Do you mean extending an application deadline? I don’t know doubt what that coach said, but I have been on dozens and dozens of webinars, and by and large admissions peeps have said they aren’t changing their application dates. No one said they are for sure changing dates, a handful said they may consider it.

Now we just have to hope there is soccer for coaches to watch in the fall!!

With college budgets constrained I just hope there’s college soccer at all in 2-3 years.

How is the recruiting video process unfolding for everyone?

DD spoke to a volleyball coach today (D3). They told her they are planning on relying 75% on video and hoping they get 25% in person for recruitment evaluation before the fall. Because it is hard to predict what tournaments will actually happen, we plan to video everything.

DD is a '23 soccer GK, for field positions coaches are wanting full game film in addition to highlights. Our club videos all games and most of the showcases are providing video as well. As a GK we also include training clips from her sessions with her GK trainer. For GKs highlight videos that showcase all aspects of the game are preferred over full game or full half video. We put together a 2-3 min highlight each quarter (fall, winter, spring, summer) that includes multi game clips and training clips. Also after large showcases we put together highlights 1-2 min from each game, along with stats. My DD is a sophomore and began emailing coaches last year, and now emails every 2-3 weeks with updates and check ins with the D1 and D2 coaches, and has some on going communication with D3 coaches.

I shot a lot of videos myself and added them to YouTube. I also did the processing myself, but on this point I have a lot of questions. I would like to know what software is used in professional processing of video clips. Before that, I had experience using only free tools.
