There’s a saying that goes something like “A wise man speaks because he has something to say; a fool speaks because he has to say something.” I wouldn’t sweat it, silverprints. Economy of words is a strength from the perspective of someone who has to read a boatload of essays.

I just realized: I deposited my application in the post box on the last day. But does that mean it will get postmarked with that day’s date?

Like silverprints, I was also way under the word limit. But unlike him, I’m under because I rushed them. That meant I also attached a generic CV instead of a proper list of activities… I’m kicking myself now for not preparing myself better, because DS is honestly at the top of my list, tied with Yale and above Harvard. If only Deep Springs had a normal deadline that didn’t interfere with finals…on the off-chance I get into round II, and without the hindrance of schoolwork, I’m gonna work my butt off for the round II essays.

Application successfully off! I made sure to watch the post-lady put the stamp that said Nov. 15th on it, to sooth my worried mind. Nerve-wracking to be sure, but totally worth it. Everything is out of my hands now. Just have to wait until mid december to see if I am worthy or not

Although really, I can’t know if DS would be the right place for me or not, until the campus visit (That is hoping crossing fingers that i get in). It could honestly turn out that I don’t enjoy it there, however I don’t think it will.

CustosMellium, that would be fantastic. Hopefully it does happen that way, and we can enjoy each others company either at the campus visit, or some later time and place. I as well have studied almost none for my fast approaching finals, but i’m glad I spent the time I did on the essays, and I think the work shows.

Its really great to hear that Im not the only one who puts my college apps off!

Typeface - You are so right! I’m not sure its possible to imagine living at deep springs. I’m really just praying that I make it to round two so I can atleast have the chance to see what it could be like.
