How much help does being an athletic recruit help your chances of getting into ND?
I have noticed that I run a faster 5k than what some of the womens on the ND roster have posted this year...I run for one of the highest ranked HS's in the country...I am hoping to continue to improve my times...what does it take to be an XC recruit. I am only a freshman but I want to run at ND...I am on the honors/AP track at school and trying to decide if I should go with the IB program...Academically I am solid but so are many, many other students that apply to ND, I'm not a legacy but I am hoping my running will give me an edge!!

I’d check out these times: [Women’s Track Recruiting Guidelines](http://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting-tools/College-Track-Recruiting/womens-track-recruiting-guidelines)

Key points:
- coaches recruit based on Track, not XC, because XC times are hard to compare. A 3200m is a 3200m though.

These times are based on your Jr year. NOT your Sr year. By Spring of your Sr year, the process is already over, so they can’t look at your times.

So, my advice is, that if you’re a great Frosh XC runner, run Winter and Spring track!

Good luck :)
