A lot of people on this forum are talking about williams pulling athletes, that it's a big deal to get recruited--are there any recruits who didn't get in early, though? How low academically would you have to be to offset your recruitment?

I had a 2250 SAT I and 780's on my SAT 2's and go to a top boarding school but I still received a tip, which means I was 1 of 14 spots for football. I figured that I would be borderline qualified for Williams solely on academics but the fact that the coach gave me the automatic admit as a tip means that he wasn't positive I could get in on my own. That was kind of scary for me, that I might not have gotten in if it weren't for football. Moral of the story; sports are still where it's at. Having said that, I'm fairly sure that if you get a "tip" then you are virtually guaranteed admission, the coaches give these to kids they know will get the blessing from admissions, they wouldn't waste tips on kids that are so terrible academically that even a tip wouldn't help them, because those spots are precious and they wouldn't want to waste them.
