Hi, I'm applying to University of Chicago and they want 2 recommendation
letters from math or science teacher AND English or social study teacher.
I asked my English teacher for recommendation and he said yes.
But my calculus teacher kind of don't like me though I was one of the top students.
So I am guessing I have to get a recommendation from AP Stat teacher next year.
But I heard this so many times that colleges want recs from junior teachers.
Does it really matter? You know I have no choice, so I will just do it.

The problem with asking one of your senior teachers for reccomendations is that they don’t really know you very well. I mean, you take their class for two months before they have to start writing the letter; what are they really going to say? I have to agree it’s better than asking a teacher who doesn’t like you, though.

You COULD ask your sophomore year math teacher. However, adcoms say they prefer junior/senior year teacher recs over freshman/sophomore year teacher recs because junior/senior year better reflects your aptitude in college.

That being said, why does it have to be your Calculus teacher? Can’t you ask your junior year science teacher?
