Recs/Transcript sent before supplement?

For obvious reasons I really want to avoid asking teachers/counselors to write recs for me when everyone else asks, too. So I would prefer to have that stuff done and sent in now. However, Brown specifically says to send in your supplement before your common app. Does this rule also apply to recs/transcript/sat scores?

Thanks in advance

You might want to check how your high school handles these things. At my daughter’s HS, teacher recs were sent to the guidance office, and then guidance bundled the teacher and guidance counselor recs with the transcript and mailed everything together.

If Brown gets any material before getting the common ap (like SAT scores), it starts a file for you. At least, that’s how it used to be done. You should call the admissions office if you want the correct answer.

If you’re doing the common app online, I think (this is how my counselor explained it to me last year, anyways), they send the letters of rec to the commonapp people. Then, when submitting the commonapp electronically to your school, your recs are sent with them. I think your teachers can actually submit the recs electronically. However, I could be wrong. I know transcripts need to be individually sent to each school, so maybe recs do too.

my recs were sent through the mail, and i’m pretty sure that they and my transcript were sent before my supplement and common app, since i didn’t submit those until the last minute. and i’m almost positive my scores got there first, because i took tests in march, june, and october and opted to send my scores to brown when i registered for them. so i think you should be fine.
