I have a couple of teachers who knew me really well for a number of years in high school and could write amazing, in depth recommendations. I have also been working with a grad students in a lab at my college for the past couple of months, although I don't know her as well as my old teachers. The college I really want to transfer to said that I could get a reccomendation from someone from either high school or college, but I'm not sure which would look better. I really have been trying to get adjusted to college (it's still my freshman year), but I'm just not liking it here. I want to show that I've been trying, and I feel like the grad student rec would help with that, but it probably wouldn't be as good a rec. So, I'm not really sure what to do. Sorry for the long post, but I really need some advice.

i think your best bet would be your high school teachers since they've known you the most and can write you insightful recs.

as for the college prof, maybe try to get to know her more. it's always been in my experience that a person only really needs about 7 hours to become really friendly and develop a good relationship with them.

or maybe you can talk to her and tell her how much you want to go to this college and remind her of the things you have done so far (to show initiative, etc.) have a mini-interview and discuss your plans with her and see if she'd be willing to write a good rec for you.

good luck!
