I was just wondering. How much would it really hurt me to send 5 recs rather than four? i know we are strongly advised to send no more than 4 but when I was asking for them, I forgot to include my guidance counselor amongst the 4 and my total came out to 5. In addtion, I figured, in case one of the recs didnt physically make it, I would still be in good shape by asking five ppl--all of whom add a little something different to my application as a whole. I think it might be a bit rude to ask one of these people to not send in a rec, especially after they have already written it. I dont believe 2 of the recs are very long and it wont take much time to read; but, if i have to i can ask one of the people I asked not to send theirs in.

lol thats alot.. i'm only sending one teacher and one counselor..

DOES it hurt me not to have like 3 or 4 recs?

Do not send 5 letters of recommendation. The Admissions Committee will only review a maximum of 4 letters for each applicant.

And no, submitting just the required 2 recommendations will not hurt your chances at all. We require 2 recommendations and that is all that is needed. Students can submit an additional one of two recommendations but there chances do not improve because of that.
