I'm thinking about scrapping my current common app essay and replacing it with my UChicago main supplement. Bad idea?

There's no opinion anyone can give without reading both essays. Go with your gut. If you applied EA to UChicago and got in, it may not be a bad idea. If you got deferred or rejected (which may not have had to do with your essay), really think it over.

ill read it if u want

That supplement is so specialized for Chicago - I don't know that that would be the best thing to do, and it would really depend on your essay. My Chicago supplement was a pretty straightforward essay that probably could have been used as a common app, but that's just the approach I took. From other essays I've seen, it's just a completely different style from the typical college essay. Unless you just really don't like your common app, it doesn't seem worth the effort to scrap an entire application and essay.
