Red book tests harder?

So I started studying for the ACT using Barrons36. Time started coming up for the ACT and I decided to start using tests from the Red Book since I was doing fairly well in Barrons (29 composite). I thought I was going to score a little higher on Red book tests since I heard barrons is usually harder.

However this was not the case. I found the red book tests to be MUCH harder than Barrons. I scored much lower in the red book (27) than barrons.

What gives? What should I expect on my test? I remember the actual ACT to be much easier than the red book practice tests. I don't know what to expect or how to prepare anymore.

Anything will help. Thank you!

Red Book tests = actual ACTs if I recall correctly, so they should be an accurate representation of what you will score on the actual examination
